This article is for youth.

I love the word charity.  It expresses so much more than basic love.  Charity is about giving to others from the heart and from the hand.  It is about thinking about others needs.

For example:

If your friend always says, “I love you,” but she never spends time with you, then her words might be spoken to please herself.  But if your friend says, “I love you,” and she lends a listening ear, has provided for you when you needed something, brought you surprises, or she is ready to help you in hard times— you know that she loves you because of the charity of her heart that she has poured out into your life.  Likewise, if your friend did those things for you without love, you would feel the difference.  You would feel like a burden to her. Therefore, Jesus desires for His church people to have charity with one another.

Check out these scriptures:

Let all your things be done with charity. ~1 Corinthians 16:14 KJV

But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. ~1 Peter 4:7-8 KJV

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor , and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.~1 Corinthians 13:3 KJV

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. ~1 John 3:18 KJV
