What Does It Really Mean 2 Be Mature?

This Article is for Young Teens

Wow.  We have really been duped about the true definition of maturity.  This false definition has been circulating so long that even our parents are believing it!  Look at these sketchy opinions:

RATED M

First of all, we are being told that gaming system games that are rated “M for mature” mean that only “mature” people play those games.  They have been leading us to believe that we are not mature unless we watch and interact with violence, possible nudity, and bad language. What?!  This unconsciously causes us to consider that we are immature and makes us feel inadequate as if we need to do bad things in order to belong to the “mature group.” *facepalm*

AGE-APPROPRIATE

Next, we are being told that television programs have to be “age-appropriate.” This means that every one who is of adult age is a person who is “appropriate” for the totally evil content that is found in many shows. *sigh*

REAL WOMAN

E-gad. What about the pressure from people in our classrooms, neighborhoods, social circles, and media who convince us that we have to change our good qualities into defiance in order to be cool?  Then they tell us, after we believe them by embracing some fearless steps of rebellion, that it makes us the ones who are “keepin’ it real” because we are bravely and unashamedly defining—or redefining—our path to womanhood. *blah*

SELF-DISCOVERY

Have you ever said those dreaded words, “I’m tired of listening to this person or that person. Let me find out for myself.” Woah-ho Nelly. This is not the smart way to find out about maturity.  This is the “I-don’t-want-to-listen-to-you-because-I-think-my-unknown-way-is-better” way.  Yikes! Talk about walking blindly.

What-to-the-ever.  If you want to know about maturity, ask the One who created it.  God gives us tons of instruction about what it really means to be mature and it starts with the fear of the Lord, in knowledge and wisdom, and it ends with understanding.

The whole Bible is inspired by those who had the, ONE AND ONLY, Holy Spirit of God with them. Their stories tell us what the Creator wants us to know that will help us to live intelligently and to have the Spirit of God too, but only if we’re willing.

A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. ~Proverbs 18:2 KJV

Anyone can jump on the old, crooked road to the false maturity of this world, but truthfully, you only sell yourself out.

To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. ~Jude 1:25 KJV ♥
