Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire…

Ever wonder why a liar’s pants are on fire?

Me neither.

But I met a pathological liar who was my “best friend.” This person lied about everything. They even told me that they had Leukemia. They told me that they were raised by their grandparents and that they didn’t know their own parents until they were much older because their parents had given them away. They even pretended to be a manager at a restaurant. Yes, this person was completely insane. They had me thinking that they were on my side when they were plotting things behind my back. They were telling others that I was saying terrible things about them and then as my “best friend,” this person would say to me that the other people were “just jealous” of me.

Oh the games that my “best friend” would play!

One day I found out about it. You would think that I would have confronted my so-called “best friend,” but I was actually terrified of this person. I did not know how to handle them because “If they lied about all of those things,” I began to ask myself, “what else were they capable of?” I felt like they had the power to ruin me.

People who create a pattern of lies will get away with many lies for a long time. If they are lucky, they will get caught and have an opportunity to change their ways, but if they don’t, it will be very sad for them because God has a plan for the liar.

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:  which is the second death. ~Revelation 21:8 KJV

Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are His delight. ~Proverbs 12:22 KJV

This person does not know the fear of God, but perhaps one day they will turn away from their sin, so pray for them.

Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. ~Luke 6:28 KJV

And if you are afraid of them, like I was, pray for yourself that you will have the courage to know what to do. If you are a Christian, God has given you power by way of the Holy Spirit. Pray that God will deliver you from a spirit of fear.  Nevertheless, it would be wise to cut that person off from your life because of the lies they are living.

For God hath not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. ~2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
