“Mary is the “queen of heaven.”

Certain people are worshipping Mary as the “queen of heaven.” It may be because of this scripture in Revelation:

[1] And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: [2] And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. ~Revelation 12:1-2 KJV

The scripture in Revelation is talking about the virgin daughter of Zion, which is Jerusalem, as a woman in travail who gives birth to a child who is most likely the Messiah. The woman wears a crown that represents the twelve tribes of Judah.

These are examples of previous scriptures about the daughter of Zion as a woman in travail, meaning in labor, due to other problems.

For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, and the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying, “Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.” ~Jeremiah 4:31 KJV

Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the Lord shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies. ~Micah 4:10 KJV

We know that the daughter of Zion is Jerusalem who is known as a virgin.

What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal thee? ~Lamentations 2:13 KJV

We also know that this crowned woman in Revelation is not Mary because she is persecuted. If it were Mary, surely we would have read about her persecution in the New Testament. However, if it is Jerusalem, it is a people.

[12] Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. [13] And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. [14] And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. ~Revelation 12:12-14 KJV

We know that Jesus’ mother Mary did not endure a flood where the earth helped her. However, it is probable that the daughter of Zion, which is Jerusalem— God’s people, endure a flood. This is probably not a literal flood. However, the sea usually represents people in certain prophecies of the Bible, so this flood may be or have been a physical attack of people on Jerusalem.

[15] And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. [16] And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. [17] And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. ~Revelation 12:15-17 KJV

Notice that the dragon makes war with the remnant seed of the daughter of Zion who “keep the commandments of God” and “have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Note the comma between these two to distinguish that it is not one thing, but two. This covers the Jewish people who keep the commandments of God as well as Christians who have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Queen of Heaven

However, there is a reference to the “queen of heaven” in Jeremiah. As we read the context, we see that God is angry at His people for worshipping other gods. In particular, worshipping the “queen of heaven” makes God angry.

The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke Me to anger. ~Jeremiah 7:18 KJV

God actually says it a couple times. Yet, they still did it with their stiffnecked attitude in Jeremiah 44 to provoke God to send destruction.

Therefore, make it clear to these “queen of heaven worshippers” that the woman in Revelation is the virgin daughter of Zion who is Jerusalem. If Jerusalem is the “queen of heaven,” God is angry that she is worshipped. If the “queen of heaven” is simply a false god, God is still angry that she is worshipped.

The queen of heaven is definitely not Mary. Most importantly, since the Apostle Paul brought the foundation of the doctrine, which is Christ, he made no mention of worshipping a queen of heaven or Mary. It would be utterly foolish to do and teach it.

The wise men who visited the house where Mary lived show forth a perfect example:

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down, and worshipped Him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto Him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. ~Matthew 2:11 KJV

Mary also speaks from her mouth,

“Whatever He saith unto you, do it.”

Jesus also speaks about His feelings on the matter as He refers to His disciples,

And He answered and said unto them, “My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.” ~Luke 8:21 KJV
