The Path of Sovereign Citizens, Government Haters, and Law Breakers

Upset with your government?  Be very careful about being drawn into the wicked path of evildoers who hate the president, hate congress, or despise government or its ordinances.  This is what the Bible says about those people.

Recently, a plot to take over the government in Turkey occurred. This was called a coup (pronounced coo). Gangs of the world often find ways to rebel against their authorities. Some do it because they have a hatred that they feed, others do it for selfish gain, and many do it because they are paranoid or fearful. Hate, greed, and fear are demonic strongholds on these people who must learn to trust in God. The Bible speaks of certain Christians who still have not learned this, but instead incite a similar rebellion against their government spoken of in the book of Jude as well as in other books of the Bible.

First, a dignity, or dignitary, is someone who is of high rank or importance. In the scriptural passage below, those who are not afraid to “speak evil of dignities” refers to those who despise the government.

[9] The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: [10] But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. ~2 Peter 2:9-10 KJV

Notice that the people in that scripture, who do these things, walk after the flesh and they are still unclean.

The next scripture below reminds us of who will not inherit the kingdom of God,

[20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, [21] Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. ~Galatians 5:20-21 KJV

Notice the word seditions.

Definition:

sedition:

noun :

the crime of saying, writing, or doing something that encourages people to disobey their government

Full Definition :

Incitement of resistance to or insurrection against lawful authority

Merriam-Webster’s definition of “sedition” http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sedition

Remember, it is God who allows positions of leadership to accomplish His purposes.

And He changeth the times and the seasons: He removeth kings, and setteth up kings: He giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: ~Daniel 2:21 KJV

He is also the righteous Judge of our souls.  Therefore, He is a law giver and punishes the lawless, which is like a spiritual prerequisite of things in the natural world.

This is what the Lord desires of us regarding our government leaders and people in authority who are responsible for upholding state and federal laws:

[1] I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; [2] For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. [3] For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; [4] Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. ~1 Timothy 2:1-4 KJV

Honour all men . Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. ~1 Peter 2:17 KJV

Wicked Authorities

Does this mean that God wants us to encourage and support bad authority figures such as a dictatorship?

A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring. ~Proverbs 25:26 KJV

No, in fact, through our supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks we can tell the Lord about the sins of an authority and request His divine help to either grant that person knowledge, wisdom, and understanding; remove that person; close doors; or protect us.

[17] Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: [18] Lest the Lord see it , and it displease Him, and He turn away His wrath from him. [19] Fret not thyself because of evil men , neither be thou envious at the wicked; [20] For there shall be no reward to the evil man ; the candle of the wicked shall be put out. ~Proverbs 24:17-20 KJV

God is good all the time. If we do as He instructs—to diligently follow Christ, learn of God, and pray to Him as a heavenly Father who is King of all—He will ensure that we lead a quiet and peaceable life or ensure that our lives are a testimony.

Good Government1

Good government does not oppress its people, especially by exacerbating the poor or through racial inequality and social injustices. We have read and heard about the greatest injustices of the world pertaining to Jewish and African enslavement and the oppression of the Natives and Hispanics.

[3] Thus saith the Lord; “Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled [robbed] out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place. [4] For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people. [5] But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself,” saith the Lord, “that this house shall become a desolation.” [6] For thus saith the Lord unto the king’s house of Judah; “Thou art Gilead unto Me, and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited. [7] And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire. [8] And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the Lord done thus unto this great city? [9] Then they shall answer, “Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.”

Notice that the reason that they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord and served other gods, is a direct result of the oppression that was listed.

The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully. ~Ezekiel 22:29 KJV

[6] Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? [7] Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? [8] Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy rereward. [9] Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and He shall say, ‘Here I am.’ If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; ~Isaiah 58:6-9 KJV

Martin Luther King Jr. knew that non-violence was the answer to stand for his people because of their oppression.

Respect from God

Through our relationship with God, He will hear us. The cry of the Israelites, enslaved by the Egyptians, was heard by God. (This occurred after Joseph, Jacob’s son, had died. Remember Jacob’s new name was Israel.) So, God heard the cry and remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who served Him faithfully. When He looked upon those Israelites, He had respect for the people.

[23] And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. [24] And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. [25] And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them. ~Exodus 2:23-25 KJV

We being birthed into our perfect Christ, if we continue in the Lord, have the respect from God that He will come to help us. I am sure that if faithful Christians pray according to God’s will to close evil doors, evil leaders will never rise. I am also confident that through our supplications, God will also help Christian leaders to repent when they fail.  However, God also allows evil leaders when He is proclaiming judgment upon the people.  A great example of this would be when King Saul was anointed to become king because the people desired a ruler over them rather than God.  King Saul was a man who did not listen to the prophet God sent, so God’s Spirit was taken from him because he did his own will.  He also tried to kill David, a godly man, several times.

Endurance in the Spirit

The great thing about Christianity is that we can teach our youth to be strong in the Spirit of God rather than in the worldly strength of attacking our government or lawful authorities. The rebellion of young and old anarchists or gang members are wicked in the eyes of God.
