As it is written, ‘There is none righteous, no, not one:…’ ~Romans 3:10 KJV
Wrong Interpretation:
Many Christians are guilty of using this scripture to claim that we’ll never be perfect. They are claiming that this scripture speaks for them, but if you read the whole scriptural passage, it also says that their mouths are full of bitterness and cursing and there is no fear of God before their eyes. In other words, this scripture is not being used in the right context.
Right Interpretation:
Notice that Paul is referencing a previous scripture from the OT. Paul is talking about the fact that all men are sinners who need a Savior because the law did not bring righteousness through deeds like circumcision of the flesh. It is Christ who completed what was lacking in the law if we come to Him by faith. Faith in Christ brings righteousness and so through Him, we establish the law. Therefore, this scripture is not about people never being perfect as Christians. It is about why men need Christ to make them perfect.
