This Must Be What Heaven is Like
Estimated Reading Time: 2 minutesHave you ever desired for everyone to love you, comfort you, and make empathetic conversation with you? Have you ever wanted people to understand you and support you without that little hiccup called “an agenda” or perhaps without those totally misguided, preconceived ideas that cause them to withhold affections and keep you at “arm’s length”?
This must be what heaven is like.
In fact, if any Christian thinks they are going to instantaneously become this genuinely affectionate type of person when they arrive in heaven (because it is in the Lord’s sight), they are in for a real shocker. We are supposed to fix those attitudes now. Furthermore, the Lord sees us now.
Yes, heaven is now. That way, when you get there, you will already have the same, prepared mind. All the righteousness you practiced on earth will be genuine and solid. What is most important is the condition of your heart. This is why love was the point from the beginning. This is also why love is a command, which we must follow to be in Christ.
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall all be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. ~1 Corinthians 15:52-53 KJV
Agape love was lacking in people’s hearts. Therefore, God showed Himself to be the epitome of love that if we wanted to live with Him, through Christ we might learn to be like Him.
Work on becoming the Christ-like person right now that you imagine yourself to be when you get to heaven. This will spread a bit of “what heaven is like” to all the people down here on earth.
[22] Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: [23] Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. ~1 Peter 1:22-23 KJV
