Scriptures About Comforting All Who Mourn
These are scriptures about how to comfort those who mourn and about how God comforts them. If God puts His Holy Spirit in us, how much then shall we be like Him?
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; [2] To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; ~Isaiah 61:1-2 KJV
The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent He to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, ~Luke 4:18 KJV [Jesus spoke these words quoting Isaiah 61 above]
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. ~Matthew 5:4 KJV
“Comfort ye, comfort ye My people,” saith your God. [2] “Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.” ~Isaiah 40:1-2 KJV
O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires. ~Isaiah 54:11 KJV
[3] Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; [4] Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. [5] For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. [6] And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. [7] And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation. [8] For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: [9] But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: [10] Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us ; [11] Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf. ~ 2 Corinthians 1:3-11 KJV
Earthly Death (Sleeping) of a Christian
Wherefore comfort one another with these words. ~1 Thessalonians 4:18 KJV
Christ’s Return and Living with Him Forever
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. ~1 Thessalonians 5:11 KJV
For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. ~James 2:13 KJV
[15] Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. [16] Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. ~Romans 12:15-16 KJV
[21] Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. [22] Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company , and shall reproach you , and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. [23] Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.~Luke 6:21-23 KJV
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. ~Galatians 5:14 KJV
[25] That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. [26] And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. ~1 Corinthians 12:25-26 KJV
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. ~1 Thessalonians 5:14 KJV
Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. ~Hebrews 13:3 KJV
[1] We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. [2] Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. [3] For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on Me.~Romans 15:1-3 KJV

[7] Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God. ~Romans 15:5-7 KJV
