Jesus began speaking in parables because the people’s hearts were filled with their own beliefs. Therefore, they could hear Him, but could not understand. Jesus discovered that there was no point in trying to speak plainly to them, so by using a parable based on truth, it forced them to think about it or they would remain perplexed. In hearing, they would not hear and in seeing, they would not see.

The Sister of the Garden and the Sister of the Kitchen
Once upon a time there were two sisters. The first sister toiled daily in the garden. The second sister waited to cook the food that the sister of the garden brought in. The sister of the garden said, “The wise landowner will not be pleased with the gardeners who do not plant and tend the land that he grants to them to oversee. The landowner will cast them out.”
The sister who cooked the food replied, “No, the wise landowner would never do that. He will not remove the worthless worker from the land because he already knew they were worthless when he hired them. So sad.”
The next day, the sister of the garden spoke again, “The wise landowner will not be pleased with any workers who do not take him seriously. They must perfect the pruning process or he will cast them out.”
The sister who prepared the food that she brought in replied, “No. The wise landowner would never do that. He will not be displeased because he gives all workers favor.”
The sisters are Christians.
The wise landowner is God.
