Moment of Truth: Casting Down Lies #39
Estimated Reading Time: 4 minutes“It’s bad to “know-it-all” about the Bible.”
Sometimes Christians say this because the Bible says, “Be not many masters because you will be judged harsher.” However, this scripture is not telling us to not know our Bibles well. It is telling us we will be judged harsher by God if we are in a position of leadership. Hey, it’s actually great to learn everything you can about God and share it with loving intent. Here’s what the Bible says:
Church – Full of goodness, Be filled with all knowledge so you can encourage and caution others.
And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another. ~Romans 15:14 KJV
Church – Let the Word of Christ Dwell in You Richly to teach and encourage
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. ~Colossians 3:16 KJV
Church – Prove all things and hold fast to it.
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. ~1 Thessalonians 5:21 KJV
Church – Live by every word and teach everything that God commands
And Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’” ~Luke 4:4 KJV
[19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. ~Matthew 28:19-20 KJV
Teachers – live by every word and teach it and be an example people can see and believe
[15] Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. [16] Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. ~1 Timothy 4:15-16 KJV
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. ~2 Timothy 2:15 KJV
[10] For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. [11] These things command and teach. [12] Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. [13] Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. [14] Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. [15] Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. [16] Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. ~1 Timothy 4:10-16 KJV
BLESSED PEOPLE
[1] Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. [2] But his delight is in the law of the Lord ; and in His law doth he meditate day and night. ~Psalm 1:1-2 KJV
Knowing the Bible is never a bad thing because the more you know, the more you can share facts with others as a Christian. Wouldn’t it be great if Christians said, “Way to go! A workman who needs to not be ashamed!” instead of “Just because you read the Bible doesn’t mean you know it all.”
Encourage one another.
