Perspicacious Parables

Jesus began speaking in parables because the people’s hearts were filled with their own beliefs. Therefore, they could hear Him, but could not understand. Jesus discovered that there was no point in trying to speak plainly to them, so by using a parable based on truth, either they would think about it or they would remain perplexed. In hearing, they would not hear and in seeing, they would not see.

These parables are not from the Bible, but they are based on actual events.  Go ahead and tease your brain and see if you can figure out these true story parables.  In some, hints are included.

The Princess and the Third Elder

There once was a young princess with a great and powerful name given to her as a child. The princess, with a great and powerful name given to her as a child, went to her third elder of the land and said, “Third elder, what do you think of that mansion you have built on the land?”

The third elder replied, “Oh, I worked very hard on building that mansion. I studied the plans carefully and created a glorious work with the help of the head master builder. Come and see.”

“Um,” said the young princess with the great and powerful name given to her as a child, “I don’t believe you and I will not come.”

Then said the third elder in disappointment, “Yes, I know very well that you do not believe me, for you have never listened to my words because you would rather take your own words or someone else’s.”

And so when the princess heard these words, she went away perplexed. Her prince came upon her and said, “What is wrong, my love?”

And the young princess, with the great and powerful name given to her as a child, told him what took place. Upon hearing this, her prince said,“Surely the third elder of the land is being mean, hateful, and prideful. Here, go and give your third elder advice.”

And so the young princess, with the great and powerful name given to her as a child, took her prince’s words and brought them to her third elder and gave the third elder advice.
